Merlot Wine is often referred to as “fleshy”, its opulent flavours providing the “flesh” on the bones of classic Cabernet Merlot blends. Its spiritual home is Bordeaux, divided into Left & Right Bank appellations. Left Bank reds are Cabernet dominant with Merlot adding flesh to the palate. The opulent Right Bank reds are Merlot dominant with Cabernets providing additional structure. NZ’s best Merlot Wine comes from the Hawkes Bay.
