Aged in 100% French oak and undergoing 100% malolactic fermentation (gives that super creamy texture), this is a generous, full-bodied Californian Chardonnay with sophistication. Abundant new toasty oak, vanilla, butter and cream, supported by loads of nectarines and ripe pears with a hint of kaffir lime adding freshness to the rich and powerful finish.

The integration of fruit and oak is excellent in this medium bodied, sophisticated Martinborough Chardonnay crafted by NZ winemaker of the year Helen Masters. Rich with a creamy texture and salivating, salty acidity portraying purity, freshness and energy that entices, drawing you in for another mouthful. This wine encapsulates concentration and power whilst maintaining elegance, it will be impossible to resist. Pureed apple and custard flavours give way to toast and vanilla with a salted lemon skin zest on the long, lingering finish. This will benefit from a couple of years cellaring if you can wait. This 2021 Ihumatao is a real belter - massively concentrated yet light on its feet, fine and fruity with layers and layers of flavours unfurling in the mouth. Ihumatao is “World Class”. Biscuity nougat and fresh spiced peach, with a creamy texture allied to mouth-watering stone fruit acidity. Complex and gorgeous, with hints of Jasmine and shortbread through the finish, this is benchmark Chardonnay from one of NZ's finest makers. Beautifully balanced now, will drink through 2031+ and be a perfect partner with fatty roast pork or chicken dishes.
