Description

The 55th release of Yalumba Signature, the 2013 signatory is Andrew Murphy. Murphy started out working in the cellar, rising to cellar manager, qualifying as a winemaker, before being promoted to Operations Manager in 1992 - and these days he's the Director of Wine. His meteoric rise is matched by what is a shockingly good The Signature. The Cabernet components come from 5 different premium vineyards in the Barossa, while the Shiraz comes mostly off the Schiller family vineyard in Nuriootpa on the valley floor

Smells

Sensationally pure on the nose, encompassing cassis, mint, leather, tobacco and cedar, along with myriad wild floral notes.

Tastes

The palate is polished, silken and deeply concentrated, the ripe, sweet tannins fading into a supporting role even at this early stage. The finish is long and layered, with hints of plum, chocolate and liquorice, the wine is breathtaking and very, very close to perfection. An absolute must-have for your cellar, secure enough to enjoy over the next 20 to 25 years - this is already amazing drinking!
