2016 Chateau La Rose Du Pin

2016 the vintage of the century and this wine certainly supports this statement, oh and it’s the bargain of the century also.

In 1965 geologist Henri Ducourt began buying plots of land in the Entre-Deux-Mers region about 40kms south east of Bordeaux. Favouring the typical Bordeaux varieties Ducourt planted nearly 50 hectares in Merlot (80%) and Cabernet (20%) – which also, coincidently is a similar makeup to the 2015 La Rose Du Pin. At 4 years of age this wine is starting to really drink nicely and well over delivers at its price – don’t be afraid to cellar a few bottles as a wine of this structure and depth can be consumed up to 10 years from vintage.

Brooding with dark berry notes of blackberry, boysenberry and dark chocolatey oak nuances.

Medium bodied with good length and fine-grained chalky tannins, this wine will really opens up with food (try a beef roast or slow cooked lamb shoulder). The densely concentrated black fruits and integrated oak make this a truly enjoyable drinking experience.
