Description

Is there any wine in New Zealand that would more consistently confuse the world's top Bordeaux experts than Puriri Hills Reserve? Designed to mimic the great Right Bank wines of Saint Emilion and Pomerol, the 2009 Reserve is a doppelganger with its blend of 46% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Franc, 20% Carmenere and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon. Held back for 8 years from vintage before it was deemed "ready", it is now drinking exceptionally well, showing full complexity, generosity of palate and a harmony that few (if any) New Zealand reds can match. Exceptional wine that will only get better between now and 2024. Treat yourself.
