Description
A really lovely introduction to the charms of Piedmont in the North of Italy, the wine is a blend of 75% Barbera, and 25% Nebbiolo - and it's now under screw cap for extra reliability and freshness. Made by Fontannafredda, the wine is dark and brooding with plenty of acidity and tannin in the classic Italian mould, that is simply delicious and dangerously drinkable.
Smells
compelling bouquet red cherry stone, rose petals, undergrowth, wild red berries with spice and hints of leather.
Tastes
the palate is filled with liquorice, raspberry, cherries, smoke, and spices. The silky smooth tannins with a crystalline acid thread combined with the exuberant fruit makes such a great wine for drinking with hard cheeses or your favourite tomato-based Italian creations, it will be at its best between now and 2024.
