Description

One of the most thrilling wines we've tried in a long while - if you like your Pinot Noir made in an old world, traditional style, it doesn't come much better than this in NZ. Crafted by former Craggy Range winemaker Rod Easthope, his familiarity with the Te Muna Road terroir is on full display here. Using 100% whole cluster fermentation and foot stomping the entire cuvee, this is a majestic expression of the famous 2013 vintage. Only 100 cases made total - so you'll need to be quick.

Smells

Complex herbal nuances from the whole bunch influence with dark cherry, clove, leather and star anise.

Tastes

Deeply concentrated dark fruit with underbrush, sage, thyme and garrigues - completely old world in style, but with the intensity of liquorice tinged black fruit that tells you it's a great NZ vintage, backed up by very fine tannins. Gorgeously accessible now with innate complexity, this wine will improve and provide immense pleasure for the lucky few who secure stock. Enjoy with venison or pork belly between now and 2025.
