Description

Despite the name and obvious affiliation with their home in Gibbston Valley, the company now own significant holdings in Bendigo on the eastern side of Lake Dunstan. The School House vineyard sits at 420m above sea level, the vineyard produces small bunches of intense grapes, which produce incredible Pinot Noirs like this - mineral, structured and highly concentrated.

Smells

A hint of graphite, pencil shavings, espresso and schist, with dark brooding notes of liquorice, cherry and leather. Almost Syrah like in its spice, darkness and intensity.

Tastes

Nothing short of breath-taking, this wine is a study in what can be achieved from the best sites in Central Otago these days. An amazingly good wine now, anyone who cellars this dark, brooding beauty for 10 years will be mighty pleased with themselves. Gorgeous young but much better with time, this is a benchmark Central Otago Pinot that everyone should try (but with such small production, very few will!)
