OLD VINE PEDIGREE PINOT, THAT WON'T BREAK THE BANK!

You'll be hard pressed to find a Pinot with as serious a pedigree as this one. It was catapulted to fame with the 2015 vintage scoring 97/100 and winning the Platinum Trophy for Best NZ Pinot Noir at the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards. That placed it among the Top 50 wines of the world from 17,000 reviewed by Decanter Judges. Then came the 2017 Runholder scoring an impressive 95/100 from Decanter as Best NZ Pinot Noir. And the 2019 snapped up another Gold and 95 point score there also!

And now this impressive 2020 release, from what will go down as an exceptional vintage here in NZ, with a well-deserved Gold Medal from our local NZIWS competition! And I can see why, as this style has got all the usual hallmarks of Runholder greatness!

So seductive on the nose with cherry and plum notes, exotic spices, smoky oak, and smooth milk chocolate. There's a luscious medley of red and black fruit on the palate, that just keeps on building intensity. Subtle chocolate and spicy oak notes add to its charm, along with hints of truffle and exotic spices. All held together by a seamless balance of juicy fine acids and velvety smooth tannins. It is a sheer delight to behold now, and we cannot wait to see how it unfolds with time!

Another triumph from Master Winemaker John Kavanagh ... the man with the midas Martinborough touch. A must-have for all serious Pinot lovers, and a serious bargain at just $34.99 WHILE STOCKS LAST!

Description

An estate blend of 8 clones of Pinot Noir from Te Kairanga's Runholder vineyards on the Martinborough Terrace crafted by outstanding NZ winemaker John Kavanagh, we identified and earmarked it as an outrageous NZ Pinot bargain over the last 3-vintages. It was elevated to global status with the 2015 vintage scoring 97/100 and winning the Platinum Trophy for Best NZ Pinot Noir at the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards, also placing it among the Top 50 wines of the world from 17,000 reviewed by Decanter Judges. Runholder is a superbly coordinated Pinot Noir and wine... the integration of perfectly ripened fruit, oak and winemaking influences are seamless. It’s a defining example of extreme value. Absolutely drinkable now... it will evolve beautifully in the cellar over the next five to six years and is a Pinot you’ll never tire of.

Smells

Cherries, plums, exotic spices, subtle smoky oak and seductive milk chocolate... a gorgeous medley of aromas.

Tastes
