2016 Saltram 1859 Shiraz

The finest Saltram 1859 yet - if Australia's #1 critic is to be believed (and we suggest he should be!)

Description

Celebrating the establishment of Saltram wines in the Barossa in 1859 by founder William Salter, this intensely flavoured Shiraz represents stunning value for money. Never more so than in 2016, where the low yields that characterised the vintage have conspired to amplify the fruit concentration.

Smells

Dark plums, ripe blackberry, smoke, liquorice, graphite and dark chocolate.

Tastes

Silky, with supple tannins and plenty of flesh on its bones, the flavour profiles is full of dark berries, spice, vanilla and plums. Made in a fruit forward style, this wine is meant to be drunk within the first 5 years but I wouldn't panic if you keep it longer...there's plenty of fruit weight and the balance is immaculate.
