Description
Together, winemaker Corey Ryan and viticulturist Simon Cowham form the Sons of Eden, a couple of local boys coming back to their roots after successful careers working for the likes of Henschke and Yalumba. Their flagship wines are called Romulus and Remus, the latter being this gorgeously seductive Shiraz grown in the Moculta, Keyneton and Central Eden Valley districts. Hand plunged and including 25% whole bunch, the wine has an element of Burgundian structure to it, but drinkers should be under no illusions - Remus is a big dog with big teeth.
Smells
Fragrant and alluring, with subtle herbal nuances to go with the massive fruit burst including plums, blackberries and liquorice with a hint of vanilla.
Tastes
Exotic and quite supple, with a charm and lightness that belies its huge, dense profile, Remus is an amazing wine with a huge presence. Enjoy over the next 15 years or so.
