Description
One of the first fully certified organic and bio-dynamic vineyards in Marlborough, TWR owners Jason and Anna Flowerday have long championed the importance of giving back to the earth as they believe it enhances future vintages of the wine. This certainly seems to be the case, with their wines getting better year after year. Their 2020 single vineyard Syrah is an elegant style, with a slight restraint and delicacy to it. Perfectly layered with heady aromatics, brooding dark fruits and a warming savouriness, it is exciting to see Marlborough really staking a claim for top quality Syrah.
Smells
Raspberry, plum, a touch of jam, and then layers of smoke, pepper and a touch of oak. Great balance.
Tastes
A distinctly savoury style, with the warmth from the oak giving the wine a cuddly character, but this is supported by a strong abundance of blackcurrant and plum. The finish is elegant, floral and slightly peppery, giving it all the hallmark features of a great Syrah. Cellar for 4-5 years.
