2016 Hunter's Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

One of the Sauvignons that put Marlborough on the map, Hunters remains among the very best!

Description

Hunters Sauvignon was among the pioneers of the Marlborough wine scene, when Irishman Ernie Hunter arrived in the region in 1979. In his very first vintage in 1982 he won 6 medals at the National Wine Show, including for the hybrid Muller Thurgau (how far we've come). In 1986 he shot to global prominence by winning The Sunday Times Vintage festival for an oak-aged Sauvignon. Sadly, Ernie is no longer with us, but 30 years later, his wife Jane continues his legacy with this 2016 Sauvignon, which has also gone Gold at the National Wine Show (now the Air NZ Wine Awards). Classic Wairau flavours that capture exactly why the world has fallen in love with Marlborough.

Smells

Ripe tropical fruit, with white peach, passionfruit, apple and blackcurrant bud.

Tastes

Fleshy and rich, with the piercing freshness that keeps you coming back on a hot summer's day, Hunters 2016 is a glorious example of Marlborough Sauvignon best enjoyed with green lipped mussels or Asian-inspired cuisine between now and 2018.
