Description

Artisan winemakers like Norrell Robertson MW come up with creative names… like Manga del Brujo – translating to “wizards’ sleeve” – this wizard Spanish red is too good to be true for the money. Made up of dry-grown, organically managed old vine Garnacha (70%), Syrah (15%), Tempranillo (10%) and Mazuelo (5%), located 900-metres above sea level in almost drought-like conditions. The old bush vines produce minuscule yields with the resulting fruit being intensely concentrated, powerful, and dense. A very complex, fine, and joyous red blend on release that can also be aged 7-10 years from vintage.

Smells

Wildflowers, small, concentrated blackberry fruits with subtle hints of baking spice and dried herbs.

Tastes

Medium bodied and plush with blackberry, cassis, spices, and dried herbs. A subtly, powerful wine with fine, clinging tannins and superb length and juiciness. A must for lovers of Chateauneuf du Pape and like blends, also lovers of very serious Otago Pinot Noir. Enjoy with game meats or cellar for 7-10 years from vintage.

Bought six bottles originally. Wow! This wine is so delicious we ordered another 6 to cellar. This wine is everything we enjoy in a red.
