Description

Eight Ranges is a boutique 3-hectare vineyard situated on a high terrace above the Alexandra Basin in picturesque Central Otago. The wines are made by local winemaking superstar Matt Connell, Trail Rider is widely affordable – yet a very highly awarded Pinot, the 2017 named Cuisine #1. We suspect 2021 already sporting Gold Medal & 5 Stars, has more awards to come. Premium Pinot Noir fruit handpicked and aged in French Oak (24% new), expensive winemaking at a modest price – it’s plush, vibrant, juicy, enjoyable on release, yet will age through 2026.

Smells

Bright red cherry, dark plum, raspberry, fine oak and herb aromas.

Tastes

A luscious plump palate of black and red fruits wrapped in silky smooth texture and fine-grained tannin. Balanced fine oak and subtle dried herb notes add complexity and depth to this well rounded and weighty Pinot. Enjoy with or without food, canapes, cheeseboards, or pasta, through 2026.

We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
