The Soave region has been renowned for making light, fruity, dry white wines for everyday drinking, wines that are uncomplicated and easy to drink. However, there is a new trend in Soave and that is to produce rich, oily, and concentrated wines and this Cantina di Monteforte is a prime example. Made from Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave grapes, don’t even try to pronounce the first variety….. Lower crop levels have resulted in this more concentrated style, where the juice was fermented in stainless steel retaining freshness and allowing the oily texture of the soils and these varieties to shine in the wine.

the palate is rich and full, with good concentration and a long, bittersweet almond finish that cuts the oiliness of the palate. Similar dried herb and almond flavours carry through on the palate with a salivating, yet creamy texture. This is one of the most exciting and intriguing Soave’s that we have tried.
