Description
Originally from Germany, the vinous brothers from Giesen are well known for their love of aromatic wines, with fond memories of their grandfather, August, travelling to the Mosel to buy barrels of outstanding Riesling. It was with such thoughts that this wine was born. Not content with producing wines in just one hemisphere, they purchased a vineyard in Mosel, Germany’s most highly regarded Riesling growing area. Handpicked at optimum ripeness from a terraced vineyard on the banks of the Mosel River, the grapes were gently pressed and given a long cool ferment, before 3 months on lees is seasoned German oak Fuder (1000L barrels). This ensures it retains its freshness and life, while gaining body and complexity.
Smells
Green apple and lemon zest leap from the glass, with elderflower and a delicate honeysuckle note.
Tastes
Full of life on the palate, crunchy granny smith apple, lemon and lime zest and white flowers. Great texture, with a gentle phenolic bitterness balanced by a touch of sweetness and cleansing acidity. It is wonderful drinking now but will continue to evolve until 2027+. Enjoy with slow roast pork belly or Vietnamese rice paper rolls.
