Elspeth status is only used for their highest quality parcels from Mills Reef's vineyards, their Gimblett Gravels vineyards are always worthy of special mention. A third straight excellent growing season saw Cabernet ripen to perfection, producing a supple and fragrant wine of rare polish. And this 2020 is a blockbuster from a top year. The power, weight and concentration are nothing short of showstopping. Cellar 5 to 10 years with confidence.
Smells
Classic cassis, graphite, bramble, leather and plum with a floral, violet lift.
Tastes
Cedary oak and tobacco, with clean blackberry flavours and spicy interest, enveloped by sturdy but fine tannins. A long, layered finish gives confidence this will improve further in the cellar for those with the patience. Another great Elspeth from Mills Reef! This deserves a superb cut of the finest beef.
