Description
Another astonishing example of a Single parcel wine from the Alkina team, a force to be reckoned with, who are setting new heights and pushing all boundaries. Polygon 5 is 100% Grenache, using Certified organic and biodynamic fruit, comprising two similar parcels of 0.12ha and 0.25ha, a total of 0.37ha. These Polygon 5 sections have deeper soils and well fractured schist with ferric clay (within the fractures). And this wine speaks of the unique and striking terroir. If served blind, you would go Northern Rhone before Australia, this team are pealing back all restrictions and rewriting the rule book.
Smells
A deep and thoughtful wine that at the same time manages to be fresh and expressive. The nose is complex displaying red fruit, amaro hints and forest floor notes with decaying roses.
Tastes
The palate is awash with ripe cranberry and pomegranate and is chalky and energetic in its texture. A seamless wine with amazing ageing potential. The recommended serving temperature is 15-17 degrees.
