Made exclusively from Carinena/Carignan from ancient 80-year-old vines grown in poor, rocky, and calcareous soil called ‘tapas blanc’, from which Romans extracted stones for their buildings. Thanks to the soil’s austerity, this Carinena offers a unique expression that’s rich and highly concentrated. Gosh, I want a case, but sadly only 10 cases in total arrived in NZ. Scoring 94 in Decanter and awarded their 10 Top Full Bodied Spanish Reds in April 2021. The pedigree is all there, you just need the patients and the cellar in which to age it. Given 10 years+ in a temperature-controlled cellar and there will be magic in the bottle.

The palate is overwhelming juicy but balanced perfectly by the chalky tannic spine. Flavours of vibrant red berries, red and black liquorice with a meaty vein, all add to the charm. The components are all there, fruit, structure, and length and with time the harmony, complexity and drive will be spellbinding.
