Description
This 100% Garnacha (grenache) is sourced from high altitude vineyards (1000 - 1100 metres above sea level). Old bush vines of 70 - 100 years of age produce miniscule yields of less the 1.5kgs per vine, the resulting fruit is intensely concentrated, powerful and dense. Hand sorted bunches are cold soaked for up to 10 days allowing for gentle colour extraction before natural fermentation commences. 40% of the wine is aged in seasoned French oak for up to a year before blending and a further 24 months maturation. This wine is bottled unfined/unfiltered. The resulting wine is complex and brooding and enjoyable now and through to 2030+.
Smells
Crushed wild violets, blackberry and boysenberry with subtle hints of baking spice and dried herb
Tastes
Full bodied and concentrated with characters of blackberry pie, cassis and dried thyme. A powerful wine with rounded tannins and impressive length. Enjoy with game meats.
