Description
Fromm are traditionalists, Swiss owned and Hatsch the winemaker also originally from Switzerland, has made the wines in a European manner from the word go. And this Malbec is a dead ringer for Cahors, the black wines of the South. The deep colour is instantly impressive, as is the power, albeit a little closed right now, time in a temperature-controlled cellar will allow this wine to show its true class.
Smells
the nose opens up to a deep floral perfume, rose petals, rosehips and violets with intense dark berry fruits, supported by vanilla, and toasty oak nuances.
Tastes
The palate is again full of dark fruit, that is fresh and vibrant with a masculine tautness and firm structure, all typical hallmarks of this young cool climate Malbec. Like an energetic teenager, this wine needs at least 2 to 3 years of cellaring to mature into a fully integrated and harmonious wine. Aged for 21 months in 228-litre French oak barrels (no new wood used). A wine with excellent cellaring potential and will partner well with roast beef cheeks or other casserole dishes.
We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
