Description
When the lease for Talisker distillery was negotiated in 1892 with Clan McLeod, the payment was 23 pounds 12 pence and a 10-gallon cask of Talisker's finest. Whoever negotiated that deal had their priorities straight. Despite being destroyed by fire in 1960, Talisker stands steadfast today as the only distillery on the Isle of Skye and the 10 year old's honey, smoke, cinnamon, pepper and leather flavours have developed an almost cult-like following over the years. Its style has been described as halfway between Islay and Coastal West Highlands. It is the beauty of the Western Isles encapsulated in a bottle; it will transport you there in an instant.
Smells
pungent smoky notes, peat, sweet tree ripened pears and apples with hints of sea salt and seaweed.
Tastes
Classic, honey, smoke, cinnamon and leather flavours with bonfire notes and black pepper. Salty, iodine flavours persist giving a long finish with a toasty malt underlay.
