Description
Known as “The Beast of Dufftown,” Mortlach has long been admired for its muscular spirit and alchemical distillation process, and the 12-Year-Old Wee Witchie epitomises that house style in a perfectly poised form.
Smells
Powerful yet polished, layers of stewed plum, dark honey, and orange zest unfold over a base of polished oak and roasted malt. Beneath, a savoury undercurrent of leather, beef stock and nutmeg whispers of Mortlach’s famously meaty distillate. A touch of dried fig and cocoa adds sumptuous depth.
Tastes
Full-bodied and textural, with the sherry casks lending a silken weight. Flavours of toffee apple, sultana and gingerbread melt into savoury notes of umami broth and charred oak. There’s a thrilling tension between sweetness and power, the hallmark Mortlach balance of richness and restraint.
