Description
Oloroso means scented in Spanish and this Lustau Dry Oloroso, crafted by 5 times World Champion Fortified producer is a textbook example!. A dark, dry and nutty style of sherry made by fortifying the Palomino to a higher level. This kills the yeast flor and allows the wine to oxidise, resulting in a wine of enormous complexity. This means, unlike the Fino styles, once you open a bottle it will keep in your fridge for a month or two.
Smells
Intense smoked walnut and dark chocolate.
Tastes
Rich on the palate, but lightened by bright acidity. Bittersweet chocolate, dried figs and nuts. The length is long and smooth! Great with aged cheeses, venison, game birds or at the end of a meal.
