Description
What colour! What a bouquet! It’s immediately obvious that Tim Turvey’s 30+ years of winemaking have allowed him to show restraint in the extraction process, letting the beyond stellar 2019 vintage take centre stage. The fruit concentration is immense, tamed and complemented by spicy new French Oak over an 18-month elevage. This polish shows through on the palate, with incredibly inviting and supple tannins, the opulence building and building to a luxurious finish. As with all great wines, this changes in the glass and reveals more and more with each glass. Don’t jump the gun – wait until 2025 and then drink through 2040.
Smells
A deeply intriguing nose of cassis, mint, and cigar box, with plum, herbs and spice add to the complexity.
Tastes
So plush and velvet-like on the palate. The fruit is intense. Cassis, blackberry and plum with mint, sage, graphite and more. It keeps evolving in the glass. I can't wait to see what it looks like at ten years of age. The tannins are fine and the length extraordinary. Enjoy with Beef Wellington.
