Spectacular CLEARANCE of Villa Maria Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot from the exceptional 2019 vintage – 95/100 at Decanter World Wine Awards + 95/100 Cameron Douglas Master Sommelier + 96/100 FW + Gold Medal. 6-year winery aged Reserve Red CLEARING at a Spectacular $29.99 bottle due to future branding changes. 2019 was officially one of the warmest summers on record. This provided red varietals superb conditions for ripening. Picking commenced early March given these usually later ripening red varieties were at optimum ripeness so were harvested under blue skies. This is a ripe, robust, superbly crafted & oaked Cabernet Merlot showing lovely development at 6-years of age… and will continue to evolve through 2029+ if properly stored.
Smells
Powerful aromas of ripe red and black fruits layered with subtle crushed herbs, fine cedary oak, plus mixed spices.
Tastes
Classic Cabernet with black & red berry & plum fruit, dried herbs, savoury flavours and fine cedary oak delivered with superb energy across the palate. The composition of fine grain tannins and salivating acidity ensure a stylish and lengthy transition from go to whoa. This wine will benefit from a further 3-5 years ageing… already 6-years it is becoming nicely rounded in the glass. We suggest you decant before serving to optimise this superb red.
