Description
Tucked just north of Pomerol proper, Clos l’Hermitage is a small, owned by the Bertin family who have been making wine since 1742. Quality is the focus for this estate in Lalande-de-Pomerol, where Merlot thrives in gravel and clay soils. The château produces supple, elegantly structured wines that echo the finesse of its prestigious neighbor while offering exceptional value. The cooler 2021 vintage brought freshness and restraint, resulting in a wine of precision, charm, and classical balance.
Smells
Fragrant and refined nose showing redcurrant, cassis, plum, dark cocoa and woody spices.
Tastes
Finely textured, with generous, rounded tannins, it's a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. A lively young red its plush fruits and supple texture ensure it drinks surprisingly well at 4-years of age, also testament to its balance and smooth tannin/acid delivery. Decant for early drinking and don’t rush, it will drink nicely through to 2030. Enjoy with red meats and hard cheese.
