Description
Barrua 2018, Made by the same team who make Sassicaia, from Sardinian and referred to as ‘Sardinian Sassicaia’, for a fraction of the price. First released in 2002, a blend of Carignano (Spanish origins), Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Carignano has found its perfect terrain on the warm, well exposed slopes of Sardinia. Close planted bush vines result in low yields, producing a very concentrated wine.
Smells
Aromas of blackcurrants, cedar, coffee grinds and toasty oak jump out of the glass.
Tastes
Stylish wine, full bodied, lots of grainy tannins giving structure to the very concentrated fruit. Blackcurrant, malt, liquorice and tobacco flavours prevail, resulting in an intense wine. One to cellar for 10 years or more. If you cannot wait to try, decant first and drink with lamb or beef.
