Within the Cru of Morgon, Cote du Py has an exceptional reputation, basically Cote du Py is a hill of schist and wines from this hill are often the most intense and powerful of the Morgons. On top of this, these wines are very long lived, and some can cellar for more than 25 years, typically wines from the best vintages that is. The wines are dark, profound, and dense with classic aromas of cherry, cherry stone, and kirsch.
Smells
the bouquet delivers all you want and more, red cherries with a strong focus on the pip, blueberries, and kirsch layered with milk chocolate.
Tastes
A fleshy style with abundant fruit, yet very mineral with graphite, and spices like black and white pepper and leaving black tea nuances on the finish. A robust, full bodied style with density and power and you can see why these wines will age. Drinking well now but will cellar 10years+ easily. Serve with soups, cheese, or stews.
