Description
COS is an iconic producer of biodynamic and organic wines and this Frappato di Vittoria 100% is a winner, in fact Frappato has become the new star variety that everyone cannot get enough of. COS Frappato is lively, direct and fresh. A wine that is easy to drink, but full of nuances and depth, what’s not to love, is more the question. And having visited COS last year, and tasted their Frappato, I can see why and its my new favourite Sicilian variety too. COS Frappato is vinified through spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts. It then ages in cement tanks followed by a short refinement in the bottle.
Smells
An ultra bright, pretty, floral nose in a wine that’s unoaked, yet complex and layered.
Tastes
This is gorgeous wine and a wine of two parts. The perfumed, pretty bouquet is juxtaposed against a tight, linear palate with grip and interest. The unoaked maturation allows the fruit to shine and Frappato is all about fruit, yet it is layered with complexity and far from simple. Drinking well now through 2028 and the recommended serving temperature is 14-16 degrees.
