Esk Valley Artisanal wines tell the story of the Old-World craft and our New World terroir. And certainly, the legendary skills and passion of winemaker Gordon Russell are wrapped up in this exciting 2021 Malbec Cabernet Merlot blend. From the deep stony soils of the Gimblett Gravels, the three parcels were separately fermented in open top concrete fermenters with traditional hand plunging. After further maceration on skins, they were pressed to 225l French Barriques (Judicious 20% new) for 18-months. Then the final blend was made before bottling… and what a blend it is. This powerhouse Kiwi Red Bargain will live for 10-years… but is so in harmony already you can open tonight.
