Description
Everyone will fall for this Aussie GSM Classic… a 96/100 rated Champion Trophy & Gold Medal stunner wearing the legendary St Hugo label. Aussie GSM is made from Grenache & Shiraz, the third grape being Mataro (Mourvèdre in France). This St Hugo 2023 is an absolute beauty; a blend of all three, where each of the varieties shows transparency and compliments the overall blend. Grenache for its juicy fruit, Shiraz for its complexity, spiciness, structure & acidity… Mataro for its meaty bouquet and power. This 2023 St Hugo GSM is delicious drinking, a hearty red with composure, layers of flavour and stylish charm that will satisfy everyone who raises a glass. As enjoyable in its youth as it will be through 2027-2030!
Smells
Aromatic and bright, exuding the style and pedigree hallmarks of this iconic label. The blend reveals lifted strawberry, raspberry, plum fruit aromas with sandalwood, spice, woodsmoke and meaty complexity.
Tastes
Perfectly mid-weight with red/black fruits, spices, nutty, earthy and meaty complexities. It’s beautifully smooth and rounded palate is complemented by textural tannins and subtle oak. The flow across the palate is the essential element to the success of this wine, charming from start to finish. Superb drinking already with flavoursome red meats and aged cheddars. The recommended serving temperature is 16-17 degrees.
