Amisfield’s Lowburn Terrace vineyards 5-10 minutes North of Cromwell on the Western shores of Lake Dunstan in Central Otago have proven to be an inspired choice of place, as has been evidenced by the many fine Pinots that have been harvested there. Commissioned in 1988, even the more recently planted vines are 10-years old, and the vineyard maturity is manifested in the fine characters and balance of the Pinot Noir emanating from the site these days. Particularly the completeness, texture, and red Burgundy like finesse of this superb vintage.

Very rounded and complex array of floral, fruit and savoury aromas that are very seductive.

Not short of concentration nor presence on the palate but coupled with restraint in a Burgundian style whilst retaining its Central Otago identity. Delicious red cherry and subtle black plum fruits are infused with sweet baking spices and subtle spicy oak. The texture is slightly crunchy, the tannins silky and completely integrated, the savoury alter ego is succulent, and the finish has a stealth like power. We can’t recall tasting a finer release, and definitely a wine for the cellar with excellent cellaring potential through 2029+
