Paul’s time spent learning from Millet profoundly shaped his approach, particularly the art of gentle extraction during fermentation, a technique he continues to refine with each vintage. The 2023 release marks another step forward in finesse and precision: it delivers all the fruit concentration you'd expect, now paired with even greater site expression and elegance. A true masterpiece, this wine promises to evolve beautifully over the next 15 years.
Smells
Haunting black and red berry fruits, with a kiss of French Oak, pencil shavings, dark chocolate and exotic thyme and dried herbs.
Tastes
Juicy, full-bodied and rich, with striking energy and power, but the most utterly silky tannic structure you can imagine. Long and lavish in the mouth with a savoury detour long into the finish, this is a classic Central Otago Pinot that demands your immediate attention. Enjoy with game birds between now and 2030. The recommended serving temperature is 13-15 degrees.
