Description

Paul Pujol’s iconic Bendigo Pinot Noir is led by this outstanding “Home Block” that’s earned a devoted cult following and rated a HUGE 97/100 by James Suckling who says… “A gorgeous pinot, this shows pure and focused strawberries and dark berries as well as lavender and sandalwood. Flint too. Medium-bodied with ultrafine tannins and a long, racy finish. It’s sleek and curated. Terrific. So drinkable now but will age beautifully.” Also, among its admirers is none other than François Millet of Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, one of Burgundy’s most revered winemakers. François’s Chambolle Musigny Pinots he made in his tenure as winemaker at Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé sold for circa $1,000 Euros bottle. They were allocated to the World’s Top Wine Merchants & Restaurants. Paul’s time spent learning from François Millet profoundly shaped his approach, particularly the art of gentle extraction during fermentation, a technique he continues to refine with each vintage. The 2023 release marks another step forward in finesse and precision: it delivers all the fruit concentration you'd expect, now paired with even greater site expression and elegance. A true masterpiece, this wine promises to evolve beautifully over the next 15 years.

Smells

Haunting black and red berry fruits, with a kiss of French Oak, pencil shavings, dark chocolate, exotic thyme & dried herbs.

Tastes

Juicy, full-bodied & rich, with striking energy and power, and the most utterly silky tannic structure you can imagine. Long and lavish in the mouth with a savoury detour long into the finish, a classic Central Otago Pinot with Burgundian finesse that demands your immediate attention and is unrelenting. Enjoy with game birds and herb roasted lamb from through 2035+. The recommended serving temperature is 13-15 degrees.
