Description

Ex-Neudorf winemaker John Kavanagh has guided Te Kairanga back to the very top of Martinborough producers, the quality now far exceeding the wine’s modest asking price. Established in 1984, Te Kairanga is an important part of the Martinborough wine story. The home vineyards are planted on land that was originally owned by the founding father of Martinborough, John Martin. Their land is steeped in history, their winemaking very much focused on the future; “to fully realise the potential of this incredible piece of land,” according to Chief Winemaker John Kavanagh. They produce outstanding small parcels of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Riesling showcasing the versatility and excellence of the region. But…… Pinot Noir is at the beating heart of Te Kairanga. Outstanding value for money, a wine that speaks of its origins and is good enough to double as a regular drinker, plus Saturday night Pinot.

Smells

Beautifully bright aromas of red and black cherry & plum, dark chocolate, coffee and toasty vanilla oak. It’s hard to take your nose away from the glass.

Tastes

Delicious on every level, plush fruit with a luscious bed of red and dark cherry, berry plum fruits layered with fine spice, vanilla pod and perfectly balanced toasty oak. Smooth mouth coating tannins provide an excellent structure, as does the refreshing acid thread. Exceptional Pinot quality v price, now through 2029.
