Description

Is there a more world-class red wine in New Zealand that is so accessibly priced? Trinity Hill Gimblett Gravels Syrah makes a habit of over-delivering on its modest asking price, and even cellars 10 to 15 years for those with somewhere cool and dark to stow it. We call it the trickle-down quality effect from their $160 bottle Homage Syrah. Outstanding mature Gimblett Gravel’s vineyards and meticulous vineyard management. Winemaking by Warren Gibson… maker of Trinity Hill Homage and Bilancia La Collina… NZ’s Finest Syrah’s. Incredibly fresh and spicy as a young wine, it will peak 2028-2032 and hold through 2036 if well stored. It’s world class Syrah at a seriously modest price. You would be highly unlikely to find a Crozes Hermitage up to this standard at the same money. An outstanding Cellar worthy Syrah bargain!

Smells

A supreme array of haunting spices and black, blue, red berry fruits, with subtle pepper and leather aromas.

Tastes

Silky, spicy, finely grained and extremely poised, it is concentrated with black, red, blue fruits. The luscious tirade of flavour is tempered with savoury, pepper, spice, leather complexities. You can enjoy it now but decant to get the best out of it. Not too long though, as the aromatics are gorgeous. Enjoy with venison loin and Syrah jus… or similar meat centric dishes.
