Description
An immensely popular premium Hawke's Bay Chardonnay from one of NZ's oldest wine producers, Babich. Planted in 1981 and first released in 1985, Irongate Chardonnay has become one of NZ's best-loved and most respected wines. Babich has yet again released an absolute classic, from a vintage that is turning out to be a highlight of the century… this flagship chardonnay shows good richness of flavour coupled with mineral notes.
Smells
Peach, brioche, cashew, lemon sherbet and vanilla.
Tastes
Mealy and rich, with butterscotch and spicy nutty notes giving way to fresh peach and citrus through the long, nuanced finish. A serious and complex Chardonnay that will bed down well through 2026 and then drink through 2029. It'll be amazing with fresh seafood. The recommended serving temperature is 10-13 degrees.
