One of the oldest wineries in New Zealand, which saw Tom McDonald's passion for wine create an amazing legacy and enviable future for Hawkes Bay and Church Road Winery. Long serving Church Road Winemaker Chris Scott presided over the making of this 2023 McDonald Series Chardonnay with fruit from their finest vineyards in the Tuki Tuki River Valley. Beautifully oaked with a creamy texture and an abundance of ripe fruit… generosity & elegance crisscrossing your palate.
Smells
A heady mix of peaches and citrus, layered with smoky hazelnuts, subtle toast and flinty aromas.
Tastes
Bold and elegant, a concentration of ripe peach & nectarine dominates, laced with subtle savoury toasty/smoky oak and a subtle flintiness. The creamy lees influenced texture is beautifully contrasted by luscious, citrus infused acidity giving the palate poise and length as it finishes with a saline hint of freshness.
