Description
Meerlust is the Te Mata of South Africa, one of the oldest wine estates in South Africa. Established in the 1600’s so it’s seen a few vintages in its time…. owned by the Myburgh family for eight generations; impressive history to say the least, this understanding of their vineyards from such a long history clearly shines in their wines. A rich, complex Chardonnay that any fine Chardonnay lover will enjoy!
Smells
complexing notes of grilled sweetcorn, canned cream corn, roasted fennel, hazelnuts, grapefruit underpinned by nectarines, peaches and toasty vanilla oak.
Tastes
A bold, buttery, creamy style with strong flavours of stone fruits and those same creamed corn notes, all drawn out by toasty vanilla nuances and a fresh acid vein. A wine showing some maturity evident by the sweetcorn and nutty notes but still has lots of life and will cellar for another 2-3 years or enjoy it for the complex style that it is right here, right now…. With chicken, pork, or your favourite vegetarian pasta. Recommended serving temperature is 10-13 degrees.
