Description

What Steve Voysey doesn’t know about making wine in Gisborne could be written on the back of a postage stamp and what we don’t like about this wine would fit on another one! The Voysey Chardonnay is consistently a top seller at Fine Wine Delivery – the 2023 is a slight departure in style, with flinty, grapefruit aromas and where the palate is more restrained than in previous vintages. Having said that it still has rich creamy fruit initially with toasty oak but a more focused and fresh finish. It still however maintains its very affordable price tag.

Smells

All sorts of summer citrus and stone fruit, from grapefruit to white nectarines and tangelo, citrus zest and a hint of buttered toast for good measure.

Tastes

A Gisborne fruit basket, ripe green apples make an appearance alongside peach and toasted nuts, with a creamy texture sitting beautifully next to the thirst-quenching citrus finish. Dry and easy going, this will win many fans before it rolls vintage. Serve with your favourite poultry or pork dishes. The recommended serving temperature is 10-12 degrees.
