First Flight are the entry-level wines for Squawking Magpie and if this Chardonnay is anything to go by, then wow!!! A stellar wee drop that is excellent value for money. And not only do we think so, but Sam Kim also gave the 2020, 95 points, and we are sure the 2022 will follow hotly in the 2020’s footsteps.
Smells
a wonderful nose with intense aromas of ripe stone fruits, laced with layers of toasty, buttery, creamy vanilla oak.
Tastes
a wine that perfectly walks the line between exuberant fruit yet is balanced by layers of complexity due to judicious oak handling. Lashings of peaches, nectarines and nashi pear flavours intermingle with smoke, brioche, butter and creamy notes and toasty vanilla oak on the finish. A plush style that offers superb drinking, for not only novice wine drinkers but serious wine tasters as well. Drinking perfectly now through 2025 and will partner well with pasta, chicken, or pork.
