Description
Always up there as the finest 2 or 3 Sauvignons in Marlborough every year, Greywacke emphasises ripeness in the vineyard to produce a sophisticated and satisfying style of Sauvignon Blanc. Crafted by former Cloudy Bay founding winemaker Kevin Judd, the fruit comes from the Central Wairau and Southern Valleys. It seems the last few vintages have risen to even higher heights and this 2024 is nothing less than stunning. Greywacke deserves to be labelled with ‘Cult Status’.
Smells
Deliciously aromatic with scents of honeydew melon and orange blossom, delicately infused with herb garden botanicals.
Tastes
A bright, seasonal expression, with juicy lemon and steely cassis flavours and a generously textured palate garnished with a flourish of pastis and wildflowers. A wine with impressive structure and depth, this is Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc with the volume turned down a notch. Superb drinking now through 2027+. Serve with fresh seafood, pasta or quiche dishes. The recommended serving temperature is 8-10 degrees.
