Description
The old Midleton distillery sits on 15 green acres by the banks of the Dungourney river, near the town of Midleton in East Cork. For nearly 2 centuries, Midleton (Established 1825) has stayed true to the unique, Irish Pot Still, Whiskey making tradition, that nearly vanished in the early 1990's. Today it is considered to be the definitive expression of this quintessential style of Irish Whiskey making. It is a living legacy of the 'Golden Age' of Irish Whiskey making, that once ruled the world, due to its revered quality Originally a limited edition release created for La Maison du Whisky in Paris, it is now a permanent part of the family, but is very, very difficult to get in NZ, so grab one while you can.
Smells
Warm, fruity and tangy aromas, lemon zest, guavas, mango and pineapple with hints of beeswax and manuka honey.
Tastes
The flavours are the softest sherry trifle/ Eton Mess and complex, soft sizzled fruits, with embellished tones of vanilla and finest malted biscuit, creamy, smooth and delicious.
