For practical purposes vodka is any neutral, colourless, odourless spirit, normally made from grainread more or other starch or sugar-rich plant matter. Rye and wheat vodkas have traditionally been considered superior but there is a growing number of premium vodkas made from other materials such as grapes. Flavoured vodkas have been gaining a lot of traction in recent years, led by our own NZ success story 42 Below.
