Description
Starward Distillery located in the Heart of Melbourne can now claim bragging rights as being Australia’s most awarded Distillery – having won 12 Double Gold and 3 Golds at the 2022 San Fransisco World Spirits Competition. This expression is called Solera and as the name would suggest reflects the Solera Method used in crafting the Whisky… Solera is the traditional method the Spanish used to age their Sherry and keep it consistent. A fractional amount of each young cask is blended with more mature spirit. It's the inspiration for making their Solera and it means there's still a touch of their first ever cask in every bottle made today. This complex Whisky is then finished in Apera Casks (these are sweet Sherry-like wine barrels) sourced locally. Expected notes of tropical fruit, caramel and vanilla with toasted crème brulee, mixed spice and candied figs on the finish.
