Poggio ai Ginepri – Bolgheri DOC – is a beautifully crafted blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, each vinified separately and gently extracted through soft pressing. This wine offers a defined structure and impressive concentration yet remains approachable and inviting. The nose is broad and expressive, layered and profound, yet immediately engaging. On the palate, it reveals intense structure balanced by a supple softness and a remarkably clean, lingering finish. A perfect introduction to Bolgheri—the land of Italy’s most iconic Super Tuscans—this wine captures the ripe, bold character of Cabernet while preserving the signature Italian interplay of tannin and acidity. Delicious now, it also has the poise to age gracefully for 5 to 8 years or more.
Smells
a potpourri of aromas, raspberries, red liquorice, sandalwood, underbrush, fennel seeds, with an exotic array of brown spices.
Tastes
the palate structure is impressive from whoa to go, succulent fruit soothes the senses, suddenly awoken and brought to vivid attention by the chalky tannins, giving energy, zing and pizzaz. Exciting on many levels and comforting at the same time. The perfect wine to enjoy with pizza, roasted red meats and hearty stews. The recommended serving temperature is 16-18 degrees.
