Elspeth status is only used to refer to the highest quality parcels from Mills Reef's vineyards, their Gimblett Gravels vineyards are always worthy of special mention. A third straight excellent growing season saw Cabernet ripen to perfection, producing a supple and fragrant wine of rare polish. Cellar 5 to 10 years with confidence. And the current release of this stellar wine is 2018, an outstanding vintage and a wine with some bottle age, it’s a win-win situation for us all.
Smells
Classic cassis, graphite, bramble, leather and plum.
Tastes
Cedary oak and tobacco, with clean blackberry flavours and spicy interest, enveloped by sturdy but fine tannins. A long, layered finish gives confidence this will improve further in the cellar for those with the patience. Another great Elspeth from Mills Reef! Cook a fine cut of beef, open the bottle, decant and the rest will be a magical experience.
