From an iconic Hawkes Bay producer making limited edition, individually numbered bottles, Squawking Magpie are certainly making a name for themselves. Luckily for us and you we have been given an allocation of this stunning 2016 Bordeaux blend. And don’t just take our word for it as it was awarded 97 points from Cameron Douglas and 96 points from Candice Chow. A good indication that it is drinking superbly now.
Smells
a fragrant bouquet with cassis, cedar, hints of mint and an exotic bouquet garni of herbs with leather and spice.
Tastes
a sturdy, mouth filling palate with good freshness still, with layers of complexity that intrigue and delight. Dark plums, dark berry fruits with liquorice, coffee, vanilla, and spice flavours linger on the palate, with a rich, textural, satisfying finish. What an incredible opportunity to drink such a concentrated wine at this level of maturity. One sip and you will agree. Perfect with roast lamb or beef.
