Description
The 46th vintage release of Yalumba’s iconic Signature, 2015 signatory Darrell Kruger embodies everything that Yalumba and the Signature represents. His 44-year commitment/tenure at Yalumba is aptly mirrored in the great 2015 Signature. Intent, deeply layered and concentrated, silky-smooth, powerful, yet fine with it. The Cabernet components come from 5 different premium vineyards in the Barossa, while the Shiraz comes mostly off the Schiller family vineyard in Nuriootpa on the valley floor. A wine that can enjoyed upon release or cellared with confidence for 10+ years
Smells
Sensationally pure on the nose, encompassing cassis, blueberry pie, blackberries and ripe plum, leather, tobacco and cedar, along with myriad wild floral notes.
Tastes
The palate is polished, silken and deeply concentrated, the ripe, sweet tannins fading into a supporting role even at this early stage. The finish is long and layered, with hints of plum, chocolate and liquorice, the wine is powerful, yet composed. An absolute gem of a Signature, secure at least a pack and enjoy over the next 5-10 years - although it is already amazing drinking!
